HERE THEY COME!  HERE THEY COME,” as sung by the American alternative metal funk rock band Primus, is one of Eddie Lama’s favorite lyrics, quite apropos now that FaunaVision is back on the streets after nearly a three-year hiatus.

Eddie Lama and the Fauna Vision Van are back on the streets of NYC

Co-piloting the FaunaVision van was Canadian bunny hugger Brian Trzok, along with that night's guest navigator, another Canuck, the lovely but don't-mess-with-the-critters, Crystal "miss kitty" Petrowich and our very own home-grown master pilot Taylor G. They comprised our international team who brought the sights and sounds of compassion to New York City's teeming masses during this year's pre-Valentine's Day weekend.

People are shocked when they watch the video from the FaunaVision VanIn the FaunaVision van, the international team was joined by other animal lovers in journeying down the streets of the Big Apple with one mission in mind: show people a glimpse of the fur industry’s inherent cruelty and instill a new perspective on fur in their hearts.

While traveling the streets, the FaunaVision team stopped at several highly populated areas such as Rockefeller Center, Columbus Circle, Lincoln Center, and Union Square.

His MeowjestyHowever, due to the nature of the holiday, the team concentrated it efforts in the bustling diamond district where the FV van displayed the horrors of animals caught in traps and imprisoned on fur farms.  The local merchants chimed in, encouraging passersby to buy diamonds instead of fur.

The FaunaVision van boasts a state-of-the-art scrolling marquee located on both its starboard and port.  The van is also known as The HMS Bagel, His Meowjesty’s ship, named after Eddies first rescued cat.

Here are some of the messages that were displayed:

  •  “Have a heart don’t buy fur,”

  • “Diamonds may be a girl’s best friend, but fur is an animal’s enemy,”

  • “Give the gift of love don’t buy fur,”

  • “There is no love in animal abuse”

For years New Yorkers have been exposed to fancy ads in glossy magazines that glamorized fur. But now FaunaVision and its dedicated team make it possible for many New Yorkers, most for the first time, to bear witness to the hidden realities of the fur industry.

After the van’s cruise of compassion, the crew and other caring people landed in one of New York’s many wonderful veggie restaurants to celebrate a job well done.  Mission accomplished.

Mission Accomplished! We all ate and broke bread
